Student Research Highlight: Anette Roop

Anette Roop (Hugo Treffneri Gümnaasium) recently conducted her student research project within our group, focusing on novel models of early embryo implantation and the characterization of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) activity in these systems.
Her project, titled “Measurement of the Biological Activity of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin in Samples Derived from an Embryo Implantation Model System”, was supervised by Darja Lavõgina and Eha Paabo (HTG).
This week, Anette participated in the Estonian Student Research Competition, where she was awarded a special prize by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. This distinction includes the opportunity to represent Estonia at the International Science Fair in Taiwan in February 2027.
The conducted work provides valuable tools for assessing the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals on embryo implantation, as well as for studying implantation failures associated with various endometrial pathologies. Supporting talented young students in taking their first steps in science is essential for fostering the next generation of researchers and advancing future scientific innovation. Picture
